About the Artist
My name is Cheneil, pronounced "shin-neel/shen-neel"!
I'm a black Canadian with a Guyanese background. I've been drawing since I could hold a pencil and just never stopped. I've always loved cutesy and weird character designs so I just fully leaned into it. I love character design and illustration the best, but I've also dabbled in comics and animation as well.
I went to school at Centennial College where I studied Digtial Animation. I learned a little bit of everything; 2D animation, 3D animation, character design, modeling, rigging, texturing, rendering, dynamics, and compositing/video editing. My biggest interests out of the things I learned were character design and 2D animation!
Work Experience
My work experience includes:
- Multimedia Artist/Character Animator - Matthew House
- Featured Artist - DrawnTogether App.
- Illustrator - Sankofa K–3 Black Heritage Collection
- Lots of freelance/one-off commissions
- Years of customer service at a grocery store
With Matthew House, I designed characters, drew storyboards for an animation, and 3D modeled an item to be sold on Roblox.
With DrawnTogether App, I drew several illustrations and used them to advertise the app on social media.
With Sanfoka, I drew several illustrations for one of the stories in their anthology.
I did several one-off commissions for a variety of clients. Some of them can be viewed here.
